Union Civil War Veteran Soldier. Born in Ohio, he was the son of John R. and Martha 
Willoughby. During the Civil War, he served in the Union Army with the 6th Ohio 
Volunteer Infantry. Willoughby was mustered into Company D as a Private and was 
later promoted to Corporal and then to Sergeant. After the war, he returned to Ohio 
and later died there at his residence in Over-The-Rhine, Cincinnati, Ohio.
